PhotoFun: Spider Web in the Night
Photography started as a hobby for me in college, working for the yearbook. Even though years have passed (around 19 years), it is still fun to look at my every day surroundings through the lens of a camera. Sometime I’ll blog some of my beginning photos of ice and my early portrait work. Like all photographers, I’ve learned and grown a great deal in my craft.
I photographed this spider web in front of a bank in downtown Grand Haven last winter. Being alone at night with a big spooky spider was a little unnerving, especially when I was photographing it from two inches away with an extreme wide angle lens. Spiders around here are common, but are generally not a threat to anything other than pesky mosquitoes. And their webs are incredible, especially for some PhotoFun. (Naturally occurring light, no flash. Just my Nikon D800 and me.)
